How much does a private home care license cost in Georgia, and how long does it take?
DCH’s fee rule lists a $300 application fee plus a license fee of $250 for each service you offer, up to $750. That is up to $1,050 at first. DCH says review usually takes about 60 days after it confirms receipt. It cannot promise a date, and a late or wrong application takes longer.
Fees, from DCH’s General Licensing rule (111-8-25):
- Application processing fee: $300, due when you submit.
- Private Home Care Provider license: $250 for each service you offer (companion/sitter, personal care, nursing), with a $750 maximum.
- Renewal: the annual fee again, due on the anniversary of the license. A $150 late fee applies at 60 days past due.
So the first-year DCH fees can reach $1,050. These are state fees only. They do not include insurance, your office, or staff.
Time, from the DCH application packet:
- You apply in the GAMMIS web portal and upload every document at once.
- DCH says review typically takes about 60 days after it confirms receipt, but it cannot guarantee a timeframe.
- Missing or wrong items slow it down.
- Keep your License Tracking Number to follow the status.
- After licensing, DCH can visit without warning.
Fee schedules change. Confirm the current amounts in the application packet or with DCH before you budget.
