Referrals & Reputation

How do I get more Google reviews from my clients without breaking the rules?

You may ask clients and families to review you by sharing your Google link or QR code. You may not offer discounts or free services for reviews, and you may not offer rewards to change or remove a review. Ask happy families at a natural moment, and never pressure a client.

Reviews matter because families read them. Google allows you to ask. It does not allow you to pay for them.

What Google’s help page says:

- You can ask customers for reviews by sharing a link or a QR code. They must be signed in to a Google account.

- Offering incentives, such as free or discounted services, for reviews is strictly prohibited, including to change or remove a review.

Practical steps for home care:

  1. Ask families, not just clients. Many clients cannot easily use a phone for this.
  2. Ask after a good moment, such as a thank-you call or a month of steady care.
  3. Send the short link by text or give a printed QR card.
  4. Never ask a caregiver to post a review as if they were a family.
  5. Ask everyone the same way, not only the clients you think are happy. I did not find Google’s page on this practice, so ask your marketing advisor.
  6. Reply to every review, kindly and briefly.

Privacy note: a client’s review is their own choice. As an agency, do not ask in a way that makes clients feel they must, and do not confirm in public that someone is your client.

Always check Google’s current policy before a review campaign.
