Do adult day centers have to use EVV in Georgia?

Not under the state’s published list. Georgia’s EVV FAQ said Adult Day Health and Alternative Living Services under SOURCE and CCSP were excluded from EVV. EVV does apply to personal support and community living services. That FAQ is from 2021, so check with DCH before you assume it still holds.

EVV is meant for in-home visits, where a worker goes to the person. Adult day health happens at a center, and personal care homes are residences.

What DCH’s EVV FAQ says:

  1. EVV is required for personal support services and community living supports under SOURCE, CCSP, ICWP, NOW, COMP and GAPP.
  2. Several waiver services are excluded. The FAQ names Adult Day Health and Alternative Living Services under SOURCE and CCSP.

DCH’s current EVV page lists the services that need EVV by billing code. Adult day health and alternative living are not on that list.

Why we still say verify:

  1. The FAQ with the exclusion is from the 2021 rollout.
  2. Federal law and state policy have been expanding EVV to home health.
  3. If your center also sends staff to clients’ homes, those visits can fall under EVV.

Ask the DCH EVV team (evv.medicaid@dch.ga.gov) in writing and keep the answer in your files.
