Can AI do EVV or billing for my agency?
AI can help with both, but EVV has fixed federal rules. The system must capture six things: service, client, date, place, caregiver, and start and end time. AI can prepare claims and explain rejections. A person should still confirm before anything is sent or changed.
EVV: Federal law requires states to use electronic visit verification for Medicaid personal care. The system must verify the type of service, the person receiving it, the date, the location, the person giving it, and the start and end time. AI does not replace that. A caregiver still checks in at the door. Where AI helps is the mess around it: a missing check-out, a visit outside the usual place, an odd time. In Georgia, if a caregiver forgets to clock in or the app fails, the administrator can enter the visit manually with a reason code, and the system keeps an audit trail.
Billing: Georgia says that claims for covered personal care services without EVV information are denied. So a clean claim starts with a clean visit. AI can build a claim from checked shifts, find missing items, and write a plain explanation of a rejection. A person should confirm before it is sent.
Safe division of work:
- The caregiver checks in.
- The system builds a draft.
- A person reviews and says go ahead.
- The claim is sent, and the audit trail is kept.
The HHS Inspector General is reviewing how states use EVV data, so expect records to be looked at.
How CareBravo® helps
A rejected EVV record comes back explained in plain words and is resubmitted only after your Go ahead.
