South Carolina EVV and Medicaid home care, in plain words.

South Carolina runs its own EVV system, AuthentiCare, and agencies use it both to check caregivers in and out and to send claims. It covers Community Long Term Care waivers like Community Choices and the disability waivers run with SCDDSN.

Same rules, same tangle

In South Carolina, the visit still gets typed four more times.

The caregiver taps in. The visit goes to AuthentiCare. Then someone in your office carries it by hand into payroll, into billing, into the chart, and to the family on the phone. Every carry is a chance for the numbers to drift. When they do, South Carolina denies the claim, and you find out weeks later. That is Tangleware™: good tools, and an owner in the middle.

CareBravo works with the EVV systems states use, including Sandata, HHAeXchange and Netsmart. Each state approves its own connection, and each program has its own rules, so we confirm what is in place for South Carolina and your programs before you switch anything. If we are not running in South Carolina yet, we will make you an offer to start now while we build it.

Five promises, written like promises.

  1. Nothing stops. Your current system keeps running while CareBravo runs beside it for two weeks on your real data. The Parallel Promise™
  2. 99%, in writing. On Managed Billing, at least 99% of your claims go out without a mistake we caused. If we make one, we fix it free. We cannot promise what a payer decides. Read the guarantee
  3. The floor, stated up front: $250 a month, no seats, no per-user fees, no implementation fee — and corrections never billed twice.
  4. Thirty days’ notice, either way.
  5. Nobody calls unless you ask.

What South Carolina owners ask.

Which EVV system does South Carolina use?

AuthentiCare, run for SCDHHS. Caregivers check in and out with the mobile app, or by phone from the client’s landline, and agencies submit claims through the AuthentiCare web portal. Confirm with SCDHHS before buying a separate EVV app, since current notices do not describe an alternate vendor route.

Do disability waiver services need EVV?

Yes. SCDHHS extended EVV to waivers operated with SCDDSN: Community Supports, Head and Spinal Cord Injury, and Intellectual Disability and Related Disabilities. Covered services include personal care, attendant care, companion, respite, in-home supports and nursing.

Who authorizes services for my elderly clients?

SCDHHS Community Long Term Care. It runs the Community Choices waiver and arranges case management for each client. The authorization in AuthentiCare must match the visits your caregivers record, or the claim will not go through, so check authorizations before scheduling.

Is South Carolina changing its EVV system?

Possibly. Industry material in 2026 points to a move toward an open model, but we have not found an SCDHHS notice confirming it. Sign up for SCDHHS email alerts and do not change your setup until the state announces dates.
