Ohio EVV and Medicaid home care, in plain words.

Ohio checks every personal care and home health claim against an EVV visit, and since March 2025 claims without a match are denied. You can use the state’s free Sandata system or an Ohio-certified EVV vendor that sends visits to Sandata.

Ohio EVV, from the state

Same rules, same tangle

In Ohio, the visit still gets typed four more times.

The caregiver taps in. The visit goes to Sandata. Then someone in your office carries it by hand into payroll, into billing, into the chart, and to the family on the phone. Every carry is a chance for the numbers to drift. When they do, Ohio denies the claim, and you find out weeks later. That is Tangleware™: good tools, and an owner in the middle.

Running an agency in Ohio? Tell us.

CareBravo works with the EVV systems states use, including Sandata, HHAeXchange and Netsmart. Each state approves its own connection, and each program has its own rules, so we confirm what is in place for Ohio and your programs before you switch anything. If we are not running in Ohio yet, we will make you an offer to start now while we build it.

Run the Calculator, or ask for the demo and tell us your state.

Five promises, written like promises.

  1. Nothing stops. Your current system keeps running while CareBravo runs beside it for two weeks on your real data. The Parallel Promise™
  2. 99%, in writing. On Managed Billing, at least 99% of your claims go out without a mistake we caused. If we make one, we fix it free. We cannot promise what a payer decides. Read the guarantee
  3. The floor, stated up front: $250 a month, no seats, no per-user fees, no implementation fee — and corrections never billed twice.
  4. Thirty days’ notice, either way.
  5. Nobody calls unless you ask.

What Ohio owners ask.

Will Ohio deny my claim if the EVV visit is missing?

Yes. Since 1 March 2025, Ohio Medicaid checks claims that need EVV against visits in the Sandata aggregator, and claims that do not match are denied. Make sure every visit reaches Sandata and is verified before you bill.

Can I use an EVV app other than Sandata?

Yes, if the vendor is certified by Ohio Medicaid and sends visits to the Sandata aggregator in the state’s format. Ask your vendor to show its Ohio certification. Sandata’s own system is available at no cost if you prefer the state option.

What changed with MyCare in 2026?

Next Generation MyCare started 1 January 2026. Anthem joined as a plan, and Aetna and UnitedHealthcare MyCare visits after 31 December 2025 are no longer accepted. If you served those plans’ members, you need contracts with the current plans and must send EVV under the new payer.

Do DD waiver services need EVV now?

Yes. Since 1 October 2025, DODD waiver services such as homemaker/personal care, waiver nursing and 15-minute residential respite must match an EVV visit. Shared living, per diem and facility-based services, and approved live-in caregivers, are not subject to EVV.
