North Carolina EVV, from the state

Same rules, same tangle

In North Carolina, the visit still gets typed four more times.

The caregiver taps in. The visit goes to Sandata. Then someone in your office carries it by hand into payroll, into billing, into the chart, and to the family on the phone. Every carry is a chance for the numbers to drift. When they do, North Carolina denies the claim, and you find out weeks later. That is Tangleware™: good tools, and an owner in the middle.

CareBravo works with the EVV systems states use, including Sandata, HHAeXchange and Netsmart. Each state approves its own connection, and each program has its own rules, so we confirm what is in place for North Carolina and your programs before you switch anything. If we are not running in North Carolina yet, we will make you an offer to start now while we build it.

Five promises, written like promises.

  1. Nothing stops. Your current system keeps running while CareBravo runs beside it for two weeks on your real data. The Parallel Promise™
  2. 99%, in writing. On Managed Billing, at least 99% of your claims go out without a mistake we caused. If we make one, we fix it free. We cannot promise what a payer decides. Read the guarantee
  3. The floor, stated up front: $250 a month, no seats, no per-user fees, no implementation fee — and corrections never billed twice.

What North Carolina owners ask.

Which EVV system do I use in North Carolina?

It depends on who pays for the client. NC Medicaid Direct clients use the state’s free Sandata system. Health plans offer HHAeXchange or CareBridge for free. Or you can use one alternate EVV app for all payers if it sends visits to the Sandata aggregator.

Why is my NC Medicaid Direct claim pending?

A claim without a matching verified EVV visit pends with EOB 784 (edits 02077 or 02079). Use the EVV Visit History tool in NCTracks to confirm the visit is verified before you submit, and fix exceptions in your EVV system first.

Does home health need EVV too?

Yes. Home health visits have needed EVV since 2023. After the soft launch ended on 30 June 2023, the visit record must match the claim sent to NCTracks for the claim to pay. Review the explanation of benefits in NCTracks to spot visit problems early.

Where do I send a claim for a client on a Tailored Plan?

To that client’s Tailored Plan, not to NCTracks. Check the client’s plan before each billing cycle, because sending the claim to the wrong payer gets it rejected. Each plan has its own contract, authorization and claims process.
