Nevada EVV and Medicaid home care, in plain words.

Nevada uses Sandata for EVV, and agencies that already have an EVV system can keep it. Since April 2026, Nevada Medicaid checks claims against EVV visits. After a rough start, the state made several match errors warnings instead of denials.

Dates that matter: EVV claim edits were applied to claims from 1 Apr 2026. Nevada then changed five match errors (3802, 3807-3810) to informational, not denials, and reprocessed claims denied 1-10 Apr 2026 (Web Announcements 3891 and 3913; results on the 15 May 2026 remittance).

Licensing: Personal care agencies need a state license as an "agency to provide personal care services in the home" from the Division of Public and Behavioral Health (NRS 449).

Managed care: Mixed. Nevada Medicaid managed care plans cover many members; the state aligned EVV visit checks with them in 2026. Waiver services are paid fee-for-service; confirm whether PCS is carved out.

Same rules, same tangle

In Nevada, the visit still gets typed four more times.

The caregiver taps in. The visit goes to Sandata Technologies. Then someone in your office carries it by hand into payroll, into billing, into the chart, and to the family on the phone. Every carry is a chance for the numbers to drift. When they do, Nevada denies the claim, and you find out weeks later. That is Tangleware™: good tools, and an owner in the middle.

What Nevada owners ask.

Can I keep the EVV system I already use?

Yes. Nevada calls its approach Open Choice. The state contracts with Sandata, and agencies with an existing EVV system can keep using it. Make sure your system sends visits to the state so claims can be matched.

Were my April 2026 EVV denials fixed?

Some were. Nevada automatically reprocessed claims denied April 1 to 10, 2026 for five EVV match errors (codes 3802 and 3807 to 3810). Those errors are now informational. Results showed on the May 15, 2026 remittance. Claims denied for other reasons were not included, and you can still appeal.

Which services need EVV in Nevada?

Personal care services, home health, and similar in-home services in the waivers for the Frail Elderly and for Persons with Physical Disabilities. That includes attendant care, homemaker, chore, respite and companion services. If you bill any of these, every visit needs an EVV record.

What license do I need to start a personal care agency?

Nevada requires a license as an ’agency to provide personal care services in the home’ from the Division of Public and Behavioral Health. Then you enroll with Nevada Medicaid. Waiver services also need approval through the Aging and Disability Services Division.
