Mississippi EVV and Medicaid home care, in plain words.
Mississippi uses HHAeXchange for EVV. You can use the state’s free portal or your own EVV system if it connects.

Same rules, same tangle
In Mississippi, the visit still gets typed four more times.
The caregiver taps in. The visit goes to HHAeXchange. Then someone in your office carries it by hand into payroll, into billing, into the chart, and to the family on the phone. Every carry is a chance for the numbers to drift. When they do, Mississippi denies the claim, and you find out weeks later. That is Tangleware™: good tools, and an owner in the middle.

Running an agency in Mississippi? Tell us.
CareBravo works with the EVV systems states use, including Sandata, HHAeXchange and Netsmart. Each state approves its own connection, and each program has its own rules, so we confirm what is in place for Mississippi and your programs before you switch anything. If we are not running in Mississippi yet, we will make you an offer to start now while we build it.

What Mississippi owners ask.
Can I still bill EVV services straight through MESA?
Not for EVV services. Since December 1, 2025, those claims must be submitted through the state EVV system. Since January 1, 2026, a claim edit holds direct MESA claims for EVV services. Bill other services in MESA as usual.
Do I have to use the state’s EVV portal?
No. You can use the free state portal, or keep your own EVV system if it sends visits by EDI integration. Waiver agencies can also use small in-home devices for clients without a phone signal. Test your connection before your next billing cycle.
Which Mississippi programs need EVV?
Waiver personal care and in-home respite in the Elderly and Disabled, TBI/SCI, Independent Living and ID/DD waivers, plus state plan personal care, private duty nursing and home health. Check the Division of Medicaid’s notices for exact service codes.
Do health plans use the same EVV system?
Yes. Since May 2025, the MississippiCAN health plans have been connected to the state EVV system. You still bill each plan directly for its members, but the visit records come from the same system, so one clean set of check-ins serves the state and the plans.
