| Ankota | CareBravo | |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Per its Software Advice listing: non-medical home care, I/DD and LTSS providers, adult day programs, self-direction organizations and multi-payer agencies; ’built for home care agency owners and administrators who are tired of stitching together’ separate tools. | Medicaid home and community based care owners, single location, from first clients up. Personal Support Services and case management now; Personal Care Homes and Adult Day Health next. |
| EVV | Own caregiver mobile app with GPS check-in, telephony, and (in some states) home-installed FOBs. | The caregiver’s tap at the door. Sends to the state’s system where required. Listed by Georgia DCH as an EVV vendor. Rejections come back explained. |
| Payroll | Payroll ’generated from approved visits’ (Software Advice) and a Payroll module so ’paystub amounts match care provided’ (SelectHub). | The timesheet and payroll file are made from the tap, for your payroll company. |
| Billing | Generates Medicaid and private-pay claims and EDI files; RCM module covers claim creation and remittance; agencies upload 835 remittance files to post payments. | Claims built from checked shifts; every denial worked. Managed Billing adds our specialists and a written 99% guarantee. |
| AI | Software Advice listing mentions ’AI-assisted visit review’ for EVV. Ankota’s own Approval Assistant help article does not describe it as AI. | An AI agent in each of nine jobs, coordinated by Cary®. Works inside rules you write once. A person confirms anything that moves money or changes care; the nurse signs. Runs inside our HIPAA safeguards. |
| Switching | not published (one Software Advice reviewer reports implementation took longer than expected - user report) | The Parallel Promise™: two weeks beside your current system on real data; nothing switches until the numbers match. |
We don’t compare software prices, because the software is not what you are paying for. You are paying for the work after the tap, and who does it. Our prices are all published on Pricing.

What Ankota does well
- Publishes state-by-state help-center workflows for Medicaid EVV and billing (e.g., Georgia, Ohio, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, California).
- In Georgia, sends visit data to Tellus/Netsmart (Conduent) on a near-real-time basis, and supports GPS and state-approved telephony check-in (Ankota Georgia Workflow).
- Visit Approval Dashboard plus an ’Approval Assistant’ that mass-fixes and approves visits with missing EVV or data, with suggested reason codes (Ankota help center).
- Covers adult day and I/DD settings alongside home care (SelectHub; Software Advice).
Where the work still lands on you
- Georgia: the agency registers with Tellus/Netsmart itself and must confirm Tellus has its clients, addresses and authorizations; missing authorizations go to Conduent, not Ankota (Ankota Georgia Workflow).
- Georgia: non-EVV Medicaid visits are billed in GAMMIS - either manually in the state portal or by exporting a claim file and uploading it (Ankota Georgia Workflow).
- Georgia: once a visit is invoiced and accepted it ’is no longer editable in Ankota’; corrections must be made in Tellus (Ankota Georgia Workflow).
- Staff clear the Visit Approval Dashboard and add reason codes for missing clock-in/out, GPS or telephony data before billing; visits the Approval Assistant cannot resolve ’will require individual visit management and approval’ (Ankota help center).
- Ohio: staff review rejected visit responses, apply reason and exception codes, and for ’fundamental errors’ back out billing, correct, and re-invoice (Ankota Ohio Workflow).
That last column is the pattern we call Tangleware™: good tools, and an owner in the middle, retyping between them. It is not a judgment about Ankota. It is what happens when the visit has to be carried by hand from one system to the next.
Which one is right for you.
Ankota may fit if
Per its Software Advice listing: non-medical home care, I/DD and LTSS providers, adult day programs, self-direction organizations and multi-payer agencies; ’built for home care agency owners and administrators who are tired of stitching together’ separate tools. SelectHub lists Home Care, EVV, Adult Day Care, I/DD, PACE, CIL and AAA.
CareBravo fits if
You run a Medicaid home and community based care agency, you are the one in the middle of the apps, and you want the hours back for your clients or your family.
Ankota is a genuine Medicaid-aware option with real state workflows; for a single-location Georgia owner it gives her the tools and documented steps, while the exception clearing, reason codes, GAMMIS uploads and Tellus corrections remain her office’s work.
What owners ask about Ankota.
Does Ankota use AI?
Software Advice listing mentions ’AI-assisted visit review’ for EVV. Ankota’s own Approval Assistant help article does not describe it as AI. No other AI features described on its site.
How is CareBravo’s AI different?
Other home care software uses AI for parts of the work: a caregiver match, a drafted note, a claim check. CareBravo runs an integrated AI workforce: an agent for each of the nine jobs a Medicaid office does, coordinated by Cary, from one tap at the door. Of the home care software on our AI comparison page, checked 28 Oct 2026, none has an agent for all nine. CareBravo’s AI runs inside our HIPAA safeguards. Your clients’ records are not sent to public frontier AI models.
